Best Measurement Accuracy due to Highly Precise Machining
Components produced by Advanced Ceramics manufacturing processes already exhibit high precision. However, if you need parts of extremely high accuracy, parts with defined clearances, parts with tight shape and position tolerances, or parts with an extraordinary surface finish, further processing may be necessary. Post-processing of a sintered product is known as hard machining, and an excellent knowledge of the applicable tools is necessary. Green machining means processing unsintered parts, where the geometry can still be adjustedwith simpler tools.
Green Machining for Pressed Parts of Complex Geometries
Green Machining means modifying components before the sintering process. After the primary shaping process, the geometry can be further trimmed. For example narrow bore patterns are possible with green machining that would otherwise generate high costs in the primary shaping process. More profitability is the consequence, which especially makes sense with pressed components, as the pressing tools allow less complexity than ceramic injection molding or 3D printing. Special geometries can be realized during green machining and thus offer maximum flexibility. We are glad to work out the optimum process design for your components.
Hard Machining for Maximum Precision and Optimal Surfaces
During Hard Machining, the component is reworked in the sintered state. The ceramic has then reached its full strength: machining becomes more difficult and can only be realized with specific know-how and appropriate process technology. Advanced Ceramics achieves optimal results using ultrasonic machining centers. The generation of high-frequency vibrations improves the surface quality and protects the tools, which in turn makes production more economical than with conventional processing machines.
